Would you believe that even after winning a lottery of billions of rupees, someone’s life can end in misery? Yes, an Arab who won the lottery unfortunately found himself bankrupt and also became the target of a hired killer of his own brother. 66-year-old William “Bud” Post III had won Rs 1 billion 35 crore 25 lakh, but despite his big win, he spent his whole life in misery.
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, Bud had a troubled childhood. After losing his mother when he was just eight years old, he was sent to an orphanage by his father. He led a simple life doing odd jobs until his fortunes changed in 1988 when he had only Rs 205 left in his bank account.
In desperation, he pawned one of his remaining possessions, a ring, for Rs 3,300. He gave the money to his landlord and also bought a lottery ticket in which he hit the jackpot, reports Mirror.

Just two weeks after receiving the first installment of his winnings, an annual payment of Rs 4.16 crore for 26 years, he had already spent Rs 2.5 crore. He invested in his siblings and invested in many places. Within three months, Bud was in debt of Rs 4.17 crore.
He was soon estranged from his family. His former landlady took him to court for a share of the jackpot. Mr. Post fought back, but three years later, a judge ruled he had to pay her a third of the cash, and in 1992, a judge froze his lottery money.
His brother also attempted to hire an assassin to kill him and his sixth wife. This attempt was not successful and Post’s brother was arrested. He then went to prison on assault charges after shooting a debt collector. After his release, he died of respiratory illness on January 15, 2006, at the age of 66.
